About Us
Welcome to KOReader an open-source reading platform created for people who love reading in any shape, size, or language. Whether you’re using an e-ink device, Android, or Linux, we believe reading should be seamless, flexible, and tailored to you.
Our Mission
We exist to empower readers. Our goal is to build a truly versatile reader that:
- Supports a wide variety of formats from PDFs and DjVu to EPUB, MOBI, TXT, CHM, HTML, and many more.
- Handles both fixed-page documents (like scanned books, magazines) and reflowable text formats with ease.
- Offers powerful customization from typographic control to dark/night mode, from margin and line spacing tweaks to non-Latin script support.
What Sets Us Apart
Device-agnostic & optimized for e-ink
KOReader runs on Kindles, Kobos, PocketBooks, Android devices, Linux, and other e-ink readers. Its UI is built with the limitations and strengths of these devices in mind.
Wide language and script support
We support many writing systems including Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, and others with built-in hyphenation dictionaries and full typesetting options.
Advanced navigation & reading tools
Features like Book Map, Page Browser, multi-page highlighting, reflow of scanned documents, double-column reading (for magazines / scientific articles / manga), and more.
Integration & synchronization
We integrate with Calibre, Wallabag, Wikipedia, Google Translate, and other tools. You can sync your reading progress and highlights across devices to keep your reading flow consistent.
Freedom & Privacy
We believe in giving users control over their reading experience without being locked into proprietary ecosystems. KOReader supports local use, cloud integrations you can manage, and privacy-conscious practices.
Community & Collaboration
Whether it’s bug reports, translations, documentation, or new feature ideas, we welcome contributions. Our documentation, user guides, and forums are open to everyone.
Meet the Team
Though there is no single “corporate headquarters,” KOReader is possible because of our global community programmers, translators, testers, documenters, and reading lovers from many countries. Every release, every bug fix, every new feature is the result of their passion and generosity.
